Mammoth Hot Springs – Yellowstone National Park

After visited Norris Geyser Basin, Mammoth Hot Springs is the next destination. Mammoth Hot Springs is located five miles from the north entrance. Mammoth Hot Springs is quite magnificent and different from thermal areas elsewhere in the park.




From Norris drive to Mammoth Hot Springs, you will pass through the Golden Gate. The Golden Gate, and the road that passes through it, are important and historical parts of the park.

Mammoth Hot Springs has two terrace boardwalks, the Upper and Lower.

You can access the upper boardwalk from the one-way Upper Terrace Drive and parking lot. The Upper Terraces include Prospect Terrace, New Highland Terrace, Orange Spring Mound, Bath Lake, White Elephant Back Terrace and Angel Terrace.

Next, the Lower Terraces, Follow a network of boardwalks through the Lower Terraces. Start at the 37-foot Liberty Cap at the north end. Liberty Cap is among the best known of the Lower Terrace's features. Minerva Spring is another favorite because of its wide range of colors and intricate travertine formations.
